Past President Rich Giroux
Moving to Houston November 1st
A letter from our club member and a past
President, Rich Giroux, was read at the October 13, 1999 club
meeting:
"Many of you knew that for the last two
months I have been on temporary assignment for Marathon in
Houston, Texas. Also, I have only been coming home one weekend
per month. Recently Marathon informed me that I would be
permanently transferred to Houston effective November 1st.
I wanted all of you to know how much I enjoyed
being part of Toastmasters. We had lots of fun together and I
learned a great deal from all of you. I intend to join a Houston
Toastmasters' club once we find a new home. Please continue my
membership for the next period to that I can continue my
membership in Toastmasters. If I ever find myself in Findlay on a
second or fourth Wednesday, you can count on my stopping by to
participate will all of you.
Sincerely, Rich Giroux"

Our
Goal Better
Listening, Thinking, Speaking
The goal of Toastmasters Clubs everywhere is to provide a
mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which
every member has the opportunity to develop communication and
leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and
personal growth.
We are a group of men and women in Hancock County who meet
over lunch every two weeks to improve our communication and
leadership skills. This shared commitment allows members to draw
strength from one another and take pride in helping each other
grow and develop, and makes learning fun.
This Club is a member of Toastmasters International, District
28, Area 2, Club 1563.
Our members currently include a manager of information
systems, two attorneys, two professors, a financial consultant,
two in law enforcement, an agricultural extension agent, retirees
and others. Members are from various towns.
"We enjoy learning to speak (and listen) better, although
it is scary for beginners. Since virtually every member in
attendance gets an opportunity to speak to each meeting, even if
just for a "Thought for the day", over time the scary
feeling goes away, replaced with, 'I want to speak.' We have an
organized program to take beginners from their initial fear to
that successful speaker feeling. We all support each other, and
that makes a big difference. Our club is excellent for both
beginners and those who are experienced speakers who want to
improve, or just have a good time with others over lunch."
Wayne Wiemerslage, President.
For more information, go to the Toastmasters International
webpage.
If you think the odds of you speaking confidently before large
groups is the same as the likelihood of a pig flying,
You can review a sample membership
(194 k download) and complete an original
application at the next meeting.
