Findlay Old Mill Stream Toastmasters

Meeting: Wednesday, November 25, 1998, Noon, Findlay Elk1s Lodge

President Wayne Wiemerslage called the meeting to order.

In attendance were members Wayne, Roy Schwinn, Bill Freemeyer, Stan Kaiman, Tom Wagner, Rich Giroux, Margo Chase and Jason Bock.

Mr. Wiemerslage presented Jason Bock as nominee for secretary of the club as nominated by the nominating committee. There were no other nominations. Mr. Bock was elected unanimously as club secretary.

The toastmaster program for the day was presented.

Roy Schwinn began the program as Toastmaster. Rich Giroux gave the invocation and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Stan Kaiman presented table topics. The first speaker was Jason Bock, speaking about "A New Look At An Old Problem." There was no second speaker. Tom Wagner was general evaluator with Wayne Wiemerslage evaluating Mr. Bock1s speech. Margo Chase gave the scorekeeper/timekeeper report. Bill Freemeyer offered the group a closing joke. Roy Schwinn closed the toastmaster program.

Upon completion of the toastmaster program, Margo Chase, Vice-President of Education presented the idea of a debate to the meeting. She recommended a debate as the club program for one of the meetings in January. There was limited discussion. All seemed in favor of pursuing a debate as a Wednesday program. Ms. Chase agreed to gather details. All members were asked to present potential topics for the debate to Ms. Chase via e-mail.

President Wiemerslage made mention of the $25 fee for room rental during the last Toastmaster evening presentation. Stan Kaiman indicated that in the past, the Elk1s Lodge has waived the fee if a number of members ate dinner at the Lodge prior to the meeting. The matter was to be investigated further.

The meeting was closed.

MINUTES Findlay Old Mill Stream Toastmasters

Meeting: Wednesday, February 10, 1999, Noon, Findlay Elk1s Lodge. President Wayne Wiemerslage called the meeting to order.

The toastmaster program for the day was presented. Arlene Sherf served as target speaker for the club evaluation contest. Michael Reed won first place and Jason Bock placed second allowing them to compete in the area contest. The meeting was closed.

MINUTES Findlay Old Mill Stream Toastmasters Meeting: Wednesday, February 24, 1999, Noon, Findlay Elk1s Lodge, President Wayne Wiemerslage called the meeting to order. In attendance were members Wayne, Roy Schwinn, Stan Kaiman, Tom Wagner, Margo Chase, Michael Reed, Dennis Acuna and Jason Bock.

The toastmaster program for the day was presented. Roy Schwinn began the program as Toastmaster. Tom Wagner presented an extended table topics. There were no speakers. Upon completion of the toastmaster program, the meeting continued. Margo mentioned a call for judges for the Bowling Green chapter. Michael Reed volunteered to help. Wayne commented on the recent officer training meeting hosted at Marathon on Monday, February 22. Rich Griroux, Mike Webber, Jason Bock, Roy Schwinn and Wayne were in attendance. Each officer1s position was discussed and clarified. A reminder was issued for the Wednesday night meeting coming up on March 31. Margo asked for volunteers to speak or perform other Toastmaster functions. There was a brief discussion on ways to bring new members to the evening meeting. Margo reminded the group about the debate, scheduled for the first April meeting on April 14. Roy reminded the membership that dues were coming up and were due by the first of April. Wayne commented on the club web site and pointed out that we could send in photos to be linked to our personal or professional web sites. Jason mentioned that his associate, Doug Cameron, runs the local Junior Achievement organization teaching free enterprise to school children. Doug was in need of some volunteer speakers and seminar leaders for upcoming presentations to 8th graders. Several members were interested in helping if the meetings could be hosted in small chunks. Jason agree to get more information. The meeting was closed.

Meeting: Wednesday, March 10, 1999, Noon, Findlay Elk1s Lodge President Wayne Wiemerslage called the meeting to order.

In attendance were members Wayne, Roy Schwinn, Gary Wilson, Dennis Acuna Ray Jameson, Tom Wagner, Margo Chase, Michael Reed and Jason Bock. Also in attendance were several guests. All were foreign students from the University of Findlay representing Korea, Venezuela and Argentina.

The toastmaster program for the day was presented. Tom Wagner began the program as Toastmaster. Roy Schwinn gave the invocation and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Roy Schwinn offered "hazardous" as the word for the day. Gary Wilson lead the group in an extended table topics. The first speaker was Ray Jameson. Ray stepped up and filled in for the two scheduled speakers who could not attend. Roy Schwinn was general evaluator with Dennis Acuna evaluating Mr. Jameson1s speech. Margo Chase gave the scorekeeper/timekeeper report and gave the group a thought of the day. Jason Bock offered the group a closing joke. Tom Wagner closed the toastmaster program by offering advice and answering questions from the students in attendance. Upon completion of the toastmaster program, Wayne issued a reminder about the upcoming contest in Bowling Green on March 13. Michael Reed, Jason Bock, Rich Giroux and Mike Webber were scheduled to compete. Wayne also fielded questions from the student guests and reminded that Toastmaster was an international organization. The meeting was closed.
